IKEBANA have been a part of my life since childhood. My grandfather was the head of the family, and after he passed away, my father took over the family business. From a young age, I frequently visited flower exhibitions,
and learned flower arrangement from both my grandfather and father. I also studied other schools of arrangement, becoming captivated by their beauty.
While raising my own children, I taught flower arrangement to neighbors at home and also spent quiet time arranging flowers alone.
For me, it was precious time to step away from the hectic flow of daily life, to reflect on myself, and to focus.
And when I arrange flowers, I feel the energy in the room lift. Even my boisterous children somehow never try to touch the flowers. It's as if they understand the flowers are something precious.
Ikebana isn't about lavish displays. It's a minimalist aesthetic, a kind of “subtractive beauty,” where unnecessary branches and leaves are pared down to the absolute minimum, eliminating all waste.
Arranging flowers this way not only clears the room but also clears and organizes the mind.
